Rachel Zoe’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection Channels Talitha Getty

One of the most influential forces of the fashion industry, Rachel Zoe is mainly renowned for her effortless chic take on glamour, as confirmed by her latest Rachel Zoe spring/summer 2017 collection presented yesterday at the New York Fashion Week.

Bohemian and refined with Moroccan-inspired references, the Rachel Zoe spring/summer 2017 collection is all about vintage couture and joie de vivre, with each one of the proposals exuding everything we may associate with the warmer seasons, from longer days to sun-soaked beaches.

An expert and authority in contemporary designs and vintage patterns, for her SS 2017 line-up, Rachel Zoe took everything she masters just to mix and match it all, combining completely different patterns in single looks and creating something new out of it.

Besides Morocco, the dreamy colors and otherworldly culture of which make it easy to understand why people suffer from the so-called African bug, for this collection, Rachel Zoe drew inspiration from one of the most free-spirited icons of the Sixties: Dutch actress Talitha Getty.

Remembered for her bohemian style and passion for the Moroccan art and culture, Talitha Getty served as the perfect inspiration for Rachel Zoe, whose line-up’s ensembles perfectly shape Getty’s views about fashion as if she was still here, alive and ready to encourage us to play with fashion and go travel the world.

Although slightly more contemporary in design, the Rachel Zoe spring/summer 2017 collection makes us travel back to the late Sixties, injecting Morocco’s traditional colors, namely bright blue, red and white into the hippie chic movement of such fashion essentials, as billowy tunics, bell-bottom cropped pants and off-the-shoulder dresses.

And it is specifically within the floor length dresses that lies the collection’s focal point, with layered appliqués and geometric or botanical patterns dominating the scene. To further diversify the collection, trying to better embody Getty’s eclectic spirit, Rachel Zoe opted for a few more conventional festival-ready garments, such as matching shorts and blouses, cocoon short white dresses and white cropped pants.

Caftan-inspired latest fashion dresses and drop-waisted gowns with lace embroideries remind us of Rachel Zoe’s first ventures in the industry, the echoes of which still gladden those who knew, since her very first runway show, that she was going to make it.

Loads of frilled hems highlight each one of the ensemble’s uniqueness and the other times allure, while a revisited version of the Seventies-inspired suit stands out of the crowd thanks to its sleek fabric and more curve-hugging silhouettes.

The upcoming festival season already looks promising thanks to Rachel Zoe!
